Voltage is a compact burst of energy—an exploration of current, resistance, and charge in musical form. Rapid exchanges between clarinet and violin spark like live wires, while the piano surges underneath with rhythmic pulses and sudden discharges of sound. The piece thrives on tension: kinetic lines are constantly charged and released, as if the ensemble were a single circuit pushed to its limits. The music’s language is bright and mercurial—short, angular figures give way to flashes of lyricism before the energy re-concentrates, propelling forward in unpredictable jolts. After three minutes of relentless buildup, the current finally overloads—releasing all accumulated tension in a final, electrified burst.
